We install residential drain systems
daily, including weekends in the St Louis metropolitan area.
These drains include French Drains, extending down spouts,
channel drains and box drains.
Yard Drains
Before any work is started, St
Louis Drainage Solutions contacts 1-800-DIG-RITE to
locate underground utilities no matter how small the job. It is
always the contractors responsibly and liability to ensure no
damage is done in these sensitive areas. If the customer has an
irrigation system it would help to have these areas flagged. If
not, we do carry the necessary repairs items to fix and damaged
lines during excavation.
Drains Under Sidewalks
When necessary we hand dig around utilities and under sidewalks
to install PVC drain pipes. We always use PVC drain pipes and
never use Black Corrugated Flex Pipe which holds debris in
the ridges and has a tendency to clog and collapse over time.
Foundations
Pour drainage is the number one
problem affecting home foundations and premature cracking
resulting in costly repairs and loss of home equity. Simple and
effective drainage solutions can immediately resolve these
problems before they start utilizing downspout drains, French
Drains and channel drains to keep your property dry and
eliminating the need for costly sump pumps.
Downspout Drains
Downspout drains are very
effective getting water away from your foundation and past areas
of the yard in which water may settle due to improper grading.
Buried underground and carrying the water towards the street or
to the nearest low area for run-off is the best solution for
protecting your foundation and a dry yard.
Channel Drain
Channel drains in yards are used
to capture surface water in a wide area such as along fence
lines, or even in front of garages. They are typically 4" to 6"
inches wide in the trough ( bottom of the drain ) with a
slightly narrower grate. They are install flush with the ground
where as a lawn mower can easily pass over.
Box Drain
Box drains are used to capture
surface water in a narrow area and placed at the edge of a
driveway. They are also placed in a low lying area of a yard
where water collects, or pools and connected to an underground
PVC drain pipe. Sizes are typically 8" and 12" inches square.
Pop Up Emitters
Pop up emitters are attached to
underground drain pipes where the water exists the system. The
cap opens under water pressure and closes after water exists the
system. The cap helps prevent rodents getting in the pipes and
building nest to which will clog and back up the system.
St Louis Drainage Solutions
LLC - Yard drains usually consist of 4" to 6"
PVC drain pipes which can be routed under 4 to 5
foot wide sidewalks. We typically use schedule 35
PVC pipes unless we have to go under a driveway.
Under driveways we use schedule 40 which is more
rigid but has more strength. For channel drains in
front of garages, please see the following link.
