Channel drains
and trench drains are installed in driveways, parking lots,
roads, factory floors, and yards to capture surface water and rerouted through an
underground drain pipe.
Parking lot and Road Trench
Drains
Large concrete trench drains are installed in parking lots and roads to capture
surface water during heavy rains. These drains are usually
connected to 6" inch to 12" inch drain pipes and routed
underground to the MSD sewer system.
Channel Drains Between Driveway
and Roads.
This was a larger than normal
residential channel drain installed between a driveway and road.
Heavy rains coming off the road were flooding the basement of
the house which was in a low lying area.
Channel Drains In Yards
Some neighbors have their rain
water discharge at someone else's fence line where a channel
drain can be installed to pick up a large volume of surface
water. These drains are usually 4" to 6" inches wide in the
trough ( bottom of the drain ) with a slightly smaller grate.
Factory Floor Channel Drains
We replace factory floor drains
which have deteriorated over time usually due to corrosion from
chemicals. Special industrial polymer drains are installed to
help reduce attack of concentrated chemicals.
Channel Drains in Front of
Garages
Residential driveways which slope
towards a garage causing puddles in the garage are often
corrected which a channel drain installed between the garage
floor and driveway. These drains are set in concrete and
typically 4" to 6" inches.
St Louis
Channel Drains and Trench Drains. Yard drains usually consist of 4" to 6"
PVC drain pipes which can be routed under 4 to 5
foot wide sidewalks. We typically use schedule 35
PVC pipes unless we have to go under a driveway.
Under driveways we use schedule 40 which is more
rigid but has more strength. For channel drains in
front of garages, please see the following link.
